The short version: Gravity never sees your Microsoft password, never stores your IP address, and never reads your chat. It sends a small amount of usage information — which you can switch off — so we can tell which versions crash and which features get used.
Who we are
Gravity Client ("Gravity") is a free launcher for Minecraft: Java Edition, made by an independent developer. It is not affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft. Questions about this policy go to support@dgnetwork.in.
Signing in with Microsoft
When you add a Microsoft account, you sign in on Microsoft's own sign-in page. Gravity never sees, receives or stores your password.
Microsoft gives Gravity a sign-in token, which Gravity exchanges with Xbox Live and Minecraft services for the token that lets the game start. These tokens are:
- stored only on your device, encrypted with your operating system's own protection (the macOS Keychain or Windows Data Protection);
- sent only to Microsoft, Xbox Live and Minecraft services — never to Gravity's servers;
- deleted from your device when you remove the account in Gravity.
Gravity reads your Minecraft username and profile (the skin and cape Mojang already shows other players) so it can launch the game as you.
Usage statistics
To find out which versions crash and which features are used, Gravity sends a small report to its server about every six hours. You can turn this off in Settings → "Send usage statistics"; doing so also deletes anything queued on your device that hasn't been sent.
| What is sent | Why |
|---|---|
| A random install ID, generated on your device | To count installs without identifying a device |
| Gravity's version and your operating system (macOS or Windows) | To know what to support |
| Your Minecraft username | To match launcher activity with time played on our partner server |
| Launches: game version, mod loader, preset chosen | To see which versions and presets are used |
| Sessions: how long the game ran, how long it took to start, how many mods loaded | To measure performance |
| Crashes: the kind of crash and, when identifiable, the mod involved | To fix what breaks |
| Whether the app's settings were loaded correctly | To catch broken updates |
The server keeps totals (for example, "how many launches of 1.21.11") rather than a log of each event, so a timeline of what you did cannot be rebuilt from it. It keeps one record per install — the random ID, version, operating system, username and when it was first and last seen.
What Gravity never collects
- Your IP address. The server's rate limiter holds it in memory for up to a minute to stop abuse; it is never written to disk or logged.
- Your password, payment details, chat, messages, or anything typed in game.
- Your worlds, screenshots or files.
- Information about servers you join, other than our partner server below.
Capes
If you switch on the Gravity cape, your username and that choice are stored so other Gravity players can see the cape on you. Switching it off removes you from the list. Special capes may be given to players by name.
DGNetwork, our partner server
Only while you are connected to DGNetwork, the Gravity mod tells that server its version, your game and loader versions, a summary of the mods you have installed (for fair-play checks), and your frame rate, ping and memory use. Nothing of this kind is sent to any other server.
Services Gravity talks to
| Service | What for |
|---|---|
| Microsoft, Xbox Live, Minecraft services | Signing in and launching the game |
| Mojang (piston-meta.mojang.com, resources.download.minecraft.net) | Game files and Java |
| Fabric (meta.fabricmc.net) | The Fabric mod loader |
| Modrinth (api.modrinth.com) | Searching and downloading mods and modpacks |
| GitHub | Checking for and downloading Gravity updates |
| Gravity's server | Settings, usage statistics and capes, as described above |
| Discord (on your device only) | Showing what you're playing on your Discord status, if Discord is running |
Like any download, these services see the request coming from your connection. Their own privacy policies apply.
Keeping and deleting data
Usage records are kept while the service runs. To have the record for your username deleted, email support@dgnetwork.in and we will remove it.
Everything Gravity keeps on your device — settings, accounts, instances and worlds — lives in one folder: ~/Library/Application Support/gravity-client on macOS, %APPDATA%\gravity-client on Windows. Removing the app does not delete it; delete that folder to remove everything.
Children
Gravity is not directed at children under 13. Minecraft accounts for younger players are managed through Microsoft family settings.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too, and anything material is mentioned in the release notes.
